Referring to Zorluteks' environment-oriented activities within the scope of June 5 World Environment Day, Zorluteks General Manager Cemil Çiçek said, "Factors such as climate change, increase in world population, floods, forest fires and urbanization lead to faster depletion of natural resources day by day. Necessary precautions must be taken in this regard, every individual in the world must fulfill their responsibilities and emergency action plans must be put into action. As Zorluteks, we focus on the environment, nature and people in order to leave a better world to future generations." Stating that they are one of the companies that took the fastest steps towards reducing the carbon and water footprint in the sector, Çiçek said, "Thanks to many digitalization and technology-oriented investments such as Clean Production Software, which we made 3 years before the Green Deal Action Plan was published, today we can calculate the carbon and water footprint on a product basis. With the Clean Production Software, which we implemented entirely with our own teams and our own resources, the electricity, water, natural gas and steam consumption of the machines in our facility during production can be instantly monitored and reported. Thus, we can achieve maximum efficiency." For example, the electricity, water, natural gas and steam consumption amounts we use to produce 1 kg of fabric can be calculated with this software. With the motto "Today for the Future", we work with all our strength for less waste, less water, less energy, more value to people and more innovation. With the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) program we have, we can calculate the carbon load from the design stage. With the Ecodesign product category, which is our first product category with a low carbon load. We have achieved a 50% reduction. In addition, we are building Zorluteks' future position with the sustainability clause we have added to the strategies of our R&D and design centers, with various projects carried out within our centers. With the Reborn Collection, one of these projects, our product, which is confirmed by ISO 14067, has taken its place on the shelves.
In addition to all these, we have proven that our factory is a sustainable production facility with the OEKO-TEX® SteP certificate. In parallel, we have registered that we can produce with the “Made in Green” label used with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and OEKO-TEX® SteP documents.
